Vatu-i-ra - Bird Island - dive in Bligh Water, Fiji - scuba diving on deep walls and reefs.

Vatu-i-ra - Bird Island - dive in Bligh Water, Fiji - scuba diving on deep walls and reefs.:

"Vatu-i-ra is a small, uninhabited island about 20km off the north east coast of Viti Levu in Fiji. It is also known as 'Bird Island' because of the huge population of seabirds on the island. There is a rocky hill and thick vegetation making it an interesting shore excursion.

There are also many dive sites near the island and along the Vatu-i-ra Channel including the following:
Bligh Ridge
Pacific Garden
See & Sea
Greg's Point
Nikonos
E-6
High 8
North and South Lighthouses"

Great blog, first of all. Glad to see that you're posting about the environmental issues as well as the cultural ones.

I'm actually heading out there in 2 days, will be arriving on the 4th and staying At the Wananavu Resort. Going to shoot stock footage and also doing a story for potential sale to the Travel Channel, so I'm pretty psyched about the trip. Definitely looking forward to the Bligh Waters!

Looking forward to reading more of your stuff. Keep up the great work. I'll be printing out the list of dive sites in order to show them to the dive operation. Thanks for the advice.
